Words on a Screen AKA... Lyric of the Day

'We first met through a shared view, she loved me and I did too'

I haven't had a great deal of time to write anything substantial for a while now, so I've come up with this ridiculously unoriginal sham of a Feature just to keep things ticking over (and shamelessly fill up the post count of my new blog).

So here is a song lyric that has been floating around my head all day, presented and preserved like a mosquito in amber ('amber' meaning a blog post with a handy embedded Youtube video).

It's Too Late is undoubtedly my favourite song from The Streets' debut, and this line sums up the self-analytical approach that makes Mike Skinner's lyrical style so engrossing.

I've got a lot of time for songwriters who can point out their own flaws with the surgical precision that some can only muster when referring to other people, and on this track Skinner perfects a kind of dog-eared, spartan vulnerability that interplays with the music beautifully.
